I have a Request packet and an ACK packet and need to find out what the difference between them is. Any ideas?

I'm pretty new to Wireshark and need to figure out what the difference is between one Request packet and another one that's been requested after. I also need to do the same for a couple ACK packets as well. I started a capture and then I had to open a command prompt and release my current IP address lease and then do a renew as well (Done using a Virtual Machine) and then had to stop the capture after another Request packet and ACK packet showed up at the very bottom. I've been looking into it for a few days now and can't seem to find out what the difference is between them. I would imagine the extra ACK is for a re-acknowledgment but I could be wrong. Any ideas? Thanks!
