Ok, so this is bizarre. I've used Wireshark for years on various OS, including on Windows 10 on an older laptop.

I just received a new laptop (Win10, fully updated) and have actually installed Wireshark 64 bit. Installation went fine, and I included Pcap. After rebooting, there is no entry in/on the Start Menus for Wireshark, nor under recently added. However, WinPcap is properly shown. Also, Wireshark does show in the Apps&Features section as installed. It also is present and appears to be completely installed inside Program Files.

How can I force Wireshark to establish it's program entries in Start?

I have not tried double clicking the various .exe files in the program files folder, even though there are several that could be the main launcher.

Suggestions?

Hi!

Thanks yes the reinstall worked.

Just for the record, when I did the original install the only adjustment I made to the install parameters was to clear the checkbox for placing a shortcut on the desktop. I left the Start Menu option checked.

Wondering if somehow clearing the box for the desktop shortcut caused the problem- when I did the reinstall I left all boxes checked by default just in case clearing that was the trigger of the problem.
