Please Integrate Updates Into JAMF App Installers
Many customers utilize JAMF as their MDM for Mac and there is a built in feature to update apps via a mechanism called App Installers. App Installers takes the vendors prepackaged app as soon as its made available and automatically deploys it for administrators through MDM commands in JAMF. This mechanism is extremely helpful for ensuring compliance in enterprise. Wireshark consistently needs updates, however if the app is not opened then the automatic updates do not install and you can become outdated quickly. Please reach out to Jamf to add Wireshark to the Jamf App Installer catalog. This would be extremely beneficial to many organizations that utilize Macs. If this is not the proper channel to request this type of enhancement please direct me to the correct channel.
Sounds to me the job to rech out to JAMF would fit perfectly for a sysadmin.
I don't think it is fair to expect the WireShark team to do the job of sysadmin. If you want wireshark to be updated through JAMF then you can make the deal with JAMF. Given that the audience is not exactly technicaly challenged I would expect that audience to be able to deel with updates when they see it fit.
After all there are cases when an update may not fit the use case of the user.
I guess someone with enough motivation could also sponsor this work for JAMF
I agree and I have tried to request Wireshark to be added via JAMF, however JAMF was unable to add the software, but didn't specify why. I'm hoping the two teams can collaborate to enable Wireshark to be updated through App Installers.
