In windows 10 pro, the top third of the wireshark window, which shows the list of packets, is missing the horizontal scrollbar. It is there in my Debian linux wireshark, but not the windows 10 pro version. maybe I am just missing some setting? However, it "just works" in linux. Version 2.6.0 (v2.6.0-0-gc7239f02)

Sometimes it can happen, since Wireshark uses QT. You have to press the resize button and then the scrollbar appears.

Resize button is just what I needed. Thanks very much, Jon

Has a bug been filed on this? If not, one should be filed, as "no scrollbar in a case where the entire content of all the columns won't fit on the screen" is definitely incorrect behavior.

And, in fact, bug 12069 was filed in early 2016 on this by some Guy.

Has this been addressed? this is still a problem particularly after adding new columns. Since this has been occurring, for years now (at least that's what it seems like), when the horizontal scroll bar disappears I drag the separator between packet and decode a bit and that restores the horizontal scroll bar...but it is very annoying

There's no setting involved there.

Unless there's a bug somewhere in the GUI code, the horizontal scrollbar should be there if, and only if, the data in the packet list is too big to fit in the window.

If, for example, there's an "Info" column value that's really long, that might mean it won't fit in the window unless you make the window really wide (assuming your screen is even wide enough to make it that wide). The same applies to a display with a large number of columns.

If, however, you don't have a lot of columns, and the information in those columns, including the Info column, isn't very long, so that all the columns fit in the window, there won't be a horizontal scrollbar - it would take up extra space, and wouldn't actually be able to scroll, as there's nothing to move.
