Hi All,

I'm trying to find a game server IP address, however, when I run wireshark whilst in a game, I don't see any traffic from the xbox appear? does anyone know why this happens?

Looking to get educated on this and solve the problem.

In short, I followed the tutorial below to set up static routes to the Australian servers but it didn't seem to work so I'm using wireshark to see if I am still connecting to those servers or if the issue is elsewhere:

Guide (Xbox) Gain access to your router.

Find the screen for "Static Routing" or something similar.

Add entries for the servers you want to block.

Subnet mask: (try if that doesn't work)

Default gateway/Gateway IP: Your router's IP address

Destination IP: One of the IP addresses below

Metric: 2

You might have other settings, you may need to Google or trial and error for your specific router.

australiaeast - (Want access to this one)
australiasoutheast - (Want access to this one)
southafricanorth -
westeurope -
southcentralus -
japaneast -
japanwest -
northeurope -
westus -
westus2 -
northcentralus -
eastus2 -
eastus -
southeastasia -
centralus -
brazilsouth -
eastasia -

This will break your routers ability to access these IP addresses correctly, similar to the "hosts" file method.

How are your xbox and capturing PC connected to your router, wired or wireless? Depending on what you do, you should look at the wiki pages for capture setup, either wired or wireless.

Thanks, I'll take a look. They are both wireless connections to the router, which is then connected to the modem, the modem is then plugged into the wall.

You can attempt a wireless traffic capture (this is often problematic on Windows due to driver limitations) or, if offered by your router software, perform an on router capture. The latter isn't generally available on home\ISP provided routers but is on more advanced models or with alternative firmware.
