Windows Client keeps generating DHCP request

I noticed that my windows 10 box will send out a DHCP request to the dhcp server (192.168.1.1), and it gets an immediate reply, of a DHCP ACK. Then nothing else for some time. Then the process starts all over again. The strange thing is, this host is already connected to the internet, and has a valid IP. What could be going on with this host? Or is this more of a Windows question?

DHCP is a service the 'leases' an IP address to the requesting host. This lease has a limited time, and at about half that time the host re-requests the address again, to see if it can get a lease extension. Usually it does, like in your case.
