If your LAN is a wireless LAN, it's probably "protected", meaning it's encrypted with WEP, WPA, WPA2, or WPA3.

This means that the packets captured in monitor mode are encrypted, and you will need to supply to Wireshark the information needed to decrypt them. See the Wireshark Wiki's "how to decrypt 802.11" page.
