New to WireShark: How do I get traffic on local Area Connection?

I am running Wireshark on windows 10. I am using a power-line adapter to connect to the internet via Ethernet, but my desktop also has the capability for wifi. I get traffic on Ethernet section on wireshark and if I disable Ethernet and use wifi I will get traffic on the Wifi section. I also installed wireshark in Admin mode so it should have everything it needs. Anyone know what is needed for there to be traffic on the Local Area Connection filter? Is there a difference between the Local Area Connection traffic that I would get in comparison to the Ethernet traffic?
