In the latest wireshark release, which version of S1AP protocol is supported? Specifically which version of the 3GPP TS 36.413 spec.

Same question for NAS (EMM, ESM)? 3GPP spec # 24.301

Thanks, -Jamie

Hi,

Wireshark 2.4.X releases are using 36.413 v13.5.0 and 24.301 v13.8.0. The specs will stay as-is for all 2.4.X releases as we are only doing bugfixes, not improvements.

Wireshark development tree is using S1AP v14.4.0 and 24.301 v14.5.0 (actually it is updated every quarter when a new specification is available). You can grab some nightly builds here.

Thanks for the prompt response!

Do you know when 2.5.0 will be officially released?

Next summer, and it will be named Wireshark 2.6. In the meantime you can use the nightly builds, they are usually stable enough for a day today work.

Thanks again Pascal!

What about GTPv2 3GPP 29.274 and Diameter S6a 29.272.

Are these supported versions listed somewhere?

GTPv2 and S6a are updated less regularly, usually with a few IEs added per the developer need. It' shard to tell you on which release they are based exactly as this is a mix of several releases. Personally I indicate the specification version in the comments at the beginning of the file. To know this, you need to browse the source code.
