Can Wireshark monitor all connections to a router?
I've been having issues lately with people trying to connect to my wifi router several times a day and I have tried looking up the mac address to find out what device it is - and all the mac addresses I've keyed come back as a local device (I'm guessing that someone is trying for free wifi or what) but I would like to try and find out what kind of device they are and so I can prove to law officials if necessary that someone locally is trying to hack my router. I capture their mac address in my router log, I also have the router set to deny all new connections to the router. I'm thinking of REALLY locking down the router by going all nuts and require MAC address authentication on the devices so that no matter what, they will be denied entry.
By the way I have 2 different routers that I am trying to harden a TP-Link Archer BE9300 v1.6 and a Netgear RS200 (v1) and so I am open to advice/suggestions or what. I've been out of touch with the low level packet analysis for a few years but always look toward Wireshark or others old time tried & true tools.
Thanks!
