IEEE 1588 PTP logMessagePeriod vs logMessageInterval

When I'm looking into the detail of a PTP packet, I see the field logMessagePeriod. When I'm looking into the PTP standard (IEEE 1588-2008), I do not see this field. The field is actually named logMessageInterval. Do I miss something?

FWIW it's been that way since version 1.0, see the Display Filter Reference

This is the terminology that was used in the PTPv2 Drafts, until it was changed before being accepted as standard. See for instance this pre-standard document with reference to the PTPv2 draft message layout.

The PTP dissector has been introduced with the first version of PTP, subsequently amended with the progressing draft of PTPv2. Unfortunately the name change of this field has never been picked up, so is a left over from the pre-standard days of PTPv2.

Thanks for the explanation. I was not aware of that. How we can correct this situation?

I'm working on a patch for the next stable branch.
