Captured File Extension Issue

Hi all, i have a problem when i setup the auto save in order to create files every amount of time (like 5 minutes). The files are created as i want, but with an extension that ai cannot open again later (there is no extension specified in the file properties, just "file"), even though i have set the output extension to pca or pcapng. What cloud be the problem? Thanks you so much.

For future reference, the option to split packets by duration etc. is named "ring buffer". I presume it's some form of AI hallucination to use the term "autosave".

No problem, just helps to keep us all discussing the same thing.

What's your OS and Wireshark version? I think this is a bug in 4.4.0, I thought there was an issue raised for this but can't find it at the moment.

I'm running wireshark on WIN10, and the release is the 4.2.6. I used the installer for x64 systems, and i thought that it installed the latest version. Do you suggest to update? Thank you.

EDIT: i tried to update to the 4.4.0 version but nothing changed

Should we automatically add the default extension to whatever is entered in the box if there isn't one?

I think that would be helpful. Note that the extension added should be that selected in the "Output format" radio buttons.
