downgrade wireshark

I'm running wireshark 3.6.2, --and it's really stable, --I'm also running more than one 4.x, --and at the moment 4.4 is really beating me up badly, --bugs, -crashes when I start a trace, --don't want to beta test, -I want to put everything back to version 3.6.2 or something stable in Ubuntu.

How do I downgrade Wireshark in Ubuntu?

OK, so I did downgrade wireshark, --it's called revert to an earlier snapshot. This is what i found... Version 4.26 appears to work,--however version 4.4 is crashing as soon as a start a a filtered capture session. If I do a wide-open with no capture filters it appears to work, --but if I set a capture filter I get this error.. "Child dumpcap process died: Segmentation violation - core dumped."

I'm currently downgrading to 3.62 where I can, --but I would still like to set a never upgrade knob on that.

What's your Ubuntu version, AFAIK they don't include 4.4.0 as standard? Have you installed a Wireshark PPA?

Wireshark from the Wireshark developers only supports updating from within Wireshark on Windows and macOS. If you build from source on any other OS, there won't be the same sort of update checks in Wireshark that are on Windows and macOS.

Any updating on Ubuntu is either part of the Ubuntu package (but they probably don't have a 4.4.x package yet) or part of whatever mechanism you used to install 4.4.0. Any "never upgrade knob" would be up to them.
