Since I have gotten my new laptop for work I have had a terrible time with any version of Wireshark (going back to 3.6.2) playing back recorded RTP streams in the embedded RTP player. I am currently on Version 4.0.7 (v4.0.7-0-g0ad1823cc090) 64-bit in Windows 10

Loading even the sample files like SIP_CALL_RTP_G711.cap or SIP_DTMF2.cap from https://wiki.wireshark.org/SampleCapt... causes the RTP player to freeze and stutter, like play a moment of sound, the stop for a few seconds, and then another burst of sound, etc. Trying to stop the player causes it to stop responding and having to force close it. Interestingly if I select the media streams and export them, they playback fine in any media player.

Other people I work with using similar software setups but different hardware have no issues on the same files on several different Wireshark versions.

It doesn't seem to matter what output device or any other setting I change... It does this 95% of the time. And when it happens Wiresharks CPU usage goes up, but not even close to the limit of the system.

The system is very robust, Thinkpad P14s Gen 2 with Ryzen 7 5850U, 48GB RAM, and 1TB NVME, running Windows 10 Enterprise... I can provide any information needed to troubleshoot further.

I suggest you raise the issue with your own IT department first. Could be a silly sound driver issue or .....
