Does the installer hang or exit?
The Wireshark installer is attempting to install the Microsoft VC libraries and failing for unknown reasons.
You could try running that command yourself from an elevated command prompt by downloading the required VC libraries from MS and dropping the
/quietflag to see if there's any further info, e.g.What version of Wireshark are you attempting to install so that I can post the correct link to the VC libraries for you?
I just posted this in another question. I found this answer but when I run it,it says I have a newer version running.
If you get error 1618, this is a general MSI error. It specifically means there's another installer running. Make sure nothing else is running, and if need be open your task manager to kill any instances of msiexec.
@grahamb I'm also having this issue, can I get the correct VC libraries? I'm trying to download the Wireshark 3.2.6 version (64-bit setup).
Try the appropriate installer from here.
