Question regarding broadcast traffic

has any one seen this grouping before ... is it a hub or some one on my site... i have had people ordering amazon items on my account before ... i believe it is people in my condo area or cox communication workers...

I am not part of a work group .. unless google chromcast turned my system into that ..

The Browser protocol is part of the old SMB v1 protocol suite. The packet that you described in your post is regular routine traffic, that is send out periodically by devices supporting SMB v1.

SMB-hosts can be arranged in a domain (usually as part of larger enterprise network) or a workgroup. The workgroup is the default setting and often found in home networks and small business networks. By default, SMB v1 hosts are part of a workgroup called fitting "WORKGROUP".

No hacking, no cox communication workers, no magic, no panic.

BTW, you want to turn off SMB v1. Microsoft provides a plethora of web pages, that describe how to do it. Here is one example: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...

Thank you eddi .. i totally agree with you on all the apsects ... there is hacking going on with my system but its not this scenario ... i have used wireshark for about 8 years and i wanted to make sure this was as i though just a work group im placed in as a bundle ... i live in a condo and the all of our wifi is bundled together in a bottle neck mess ... that is were the other grouping is and nobody including the cox technician is allowed to access the networking room here ... i am not new to networking and dont jiump at questionable udp traffic ... if i havent seen something before then i will ask and considering i have new chromecast and dont know what it looks like in tcp or udp i had to ask ... also i bought a new puter so i have to see what ...(more)
