Someone complained about this same problem in 2017 here (on the old forum): https://osqa-ask.wireshark.org/questi...

I just migrated my work machine from Windows 7 to a Windows 10 box, and I have exactly the same problem they are describing. Adjustment of font settings doesn't help. Please don't suggest changing the zoom setting. No one answered this question two years ago, and now I find myself in the same boat. I also tried experimenting with the Advanced Font setting (gui.qt.font_name), but it didn't help.

"Also some of the dialog fonts are less than half the size of the other fonts. I'm on Windows 10, latest version, but this has happened with previous versions of Wireshark and Windows. I've tried adjusting the font preferences, but it doesn't affect the display filter - I can barely read it. I think it happens because I RDP my box from my laptop which has higher resolution - when I log back in locally my screen readjusts, but Wireshark stays funky. Please let me know of a way to adjust or reset this - Wireshark is extremely hard to use like this. Thanks!"

Solution for me was to change scaling in Windows settings to 150% as is described here. Why Windows, with a native screen resolution and Font settings that work everywhere except in certain tab labels, filter text, etc. in Wireshark and other programs such as Notepad++, is something Microsoft will have to answer for in hell. I needed a global solution just to deal with systemwide erratic font behavioral problems that were, of course, not the fault of Wireshark.

I don't have enough points to accept my own answer. It would be nice if someone accepted it.

I also experienced this problem when switching to a different monitor (with a different display resolution). I think if the new monitor has a higher resolution, then the font will be too small, and if it has a lower resolution, then the font will be too large. I don't see any way to control the font size of the display filter text box in the Wireshark preferences. This also affects the capture filter text box as well as the dialog boxes in Edit/Preferences. The only way I could get back to a normal font size was to reboot my Windows PC.

Disabling the "Let Windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry" option fixed this issue for me. The setting is found under Settings > System > Display > Advanced scaling settings.
