How do you listen to G.729 RTP payload

asked 2019-11-14 06:45:51 +0000

I was just wondering if in Wireshark can you listen to G.729 payload. I know there was a way of converting it and listening to it but it sounds very slow and distorted on a normal call. We need to analyse G.729 payload as in certain cases it is distorted but even if I listen to a normal call as I said it is slow and distorted.

There's a sample G.729 call in a capture on the SampleCaptures wiki page, called sip-rtp-g729a.pcap. Load that and use Telephony|VoIP calls to play the stream. If that works ("Your call is very important to us...") you know that your Wireshark instance can handle G.729 RTP streams. Now you have to look into the details of your stream to see what's going on.
