Which versions support ASCII dump and ^C-copying in hexdump pane?

I'm currently using Version 2.6.3 (v2.6.3-0-ga62e6c27), which was a mistake to replace the previous version, which was inferior to the one before that in terms of friendliness. Why do useful features disappear to be replaced by those that require extra clicks or keystrokes to get to see and/or paste what I want? How do I get a version that restores what seems to have been done away with and not encounter new and disappointing surprises?

If you are referring to the changes between version 1.x and 2.x, those were caused by a total rewrite of the GUI because we needed to switch from GTK to Qt as GTK was not actively supported for Windows anymore. In rewriting the total GUI into a new graphical library, a lot of things changed.

Then there is continuous development on things and some improvements may lead to loss of functionality in other parts. Some on purpose, some maybe by overlooking things.

As the development is all volunteer driven, the only way to get something fixed (or old functionality back) is to either develop it yourself and submit the code for review or to file a bug report/enhancement request on https://bugs.wireshark.org detailing what you would like to see as a feature in Wireshark.
