Hey,

I'm trying to understand the communication behaviour of my Xiaomi Roborock S502. Specificly I am looking for the packets sent directly from my smartphone to the robot. I connected my laptop to my routers wifi. With wireshark in promisious mode I could see the cloud communication of the robot. But whenever I issued a command on my phone in the Xiaomi app, that would get send directly to the robot, no packet showed up in wireshark. I expect the packets to be UDP and arrive on port 54321 on the robot. This has been observed by other people. What am I doing wrong?

I am using a Win10 laptop with a fresh installation of wireshark.

You need to capture in "monitor mode". Refer to the Wireshark WLAN (IEEE 802.11) capture setup wiki page for information on how to do this relevant to your laptop's operating system.
