See the Wireshark Wiki page on WLAN capture setup, in particular the section on monitor mode.
As your laptop is the server for your tests, unless you actually need to see the radio info, you don't need monitor mode. Simply capture on the WiFi interface and you'll see the packets from your sensor nodes.
