When you ping your own IP address, that being the IP address of the interface you try to send to ICMP echo message from, the host will know you try to ping yourself so does not even send out a packet. At least not on the interface this IP address is assigned to. Instead it sends it over the loopback interface. Start a capture there and see what happens when you ping.
