The "Check for Updates..." hits a site like this. If you try to update, it should download the media file listed on that site. In this example, the file is Wireshark-win64-2.6.2.exe which is linked to https://1.na.dl.wireshark.org/win64/Wireshark-win64-2.6.2.exe.
Unfortunately, I don't think that link works for anybody. From the Download page, it looks like the link should be https://2.na.dl.wireshark.org/win64/Wireshark-win64-2.6.2.exe instead.
I think this is a bug that should be reported at https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/.
