2020-04-22 02:01:18 +0000 | marked best answer | Problems post install with npcap killing network connection I just remotely installed Wireshark on a 2008R2 Windows server; the npcap install didn't work, so I installed that manually. But immediately after installation of npcap-0.9990 I lost my connection to the computer. Logging in directly to the computer, I could see the LAN connection showed the network was disconnected or unplugged. I tried a number of things to resolve it which didn't work, but as soon as I uninstalled npcap adapter, it started working (I literally watched the ping response in real time). However, now I still can't ping or connect to this computer via a VPN connection. Connecting via VPN is fine, but ping doesn't go through, and therefore nothing else, like SMB etc. This was working perfectly before Wireshark / npcap install. |
