Wireshark Player and DTMF/RFC2833

0

All, when one uses the Wireshark to decode and listen to G.711 RTP in a SIP VOIP call, how is RFC2833 handled by the player.

How to listen to the RTP stream. i.e. Telephony>VOIP calls and select completed call>Player

  1. Is the player smart enough to decode RFC2833 and play it out to a user, or
  2. should one not be able to hear it.

I believe that one should not be able to hear RFC2833 in the player. Thoughts?

Thank you in advance for yet another DTMF issue.

DTMF can be present in multiple variants in the RTP stream. The RFC2833 variant usually cannot be heard from the player, but you may hear a short interruption of the sound.

Thank you. I have run a few tests and also verified that the player is behaving as expected.
