Plugin shows up in source code wireshark but not application

I'm using OSX, the .so file is in /.local/lib/wireshark/plugins/2.6/epan.

I'm creating a plugin out of a dissector my company uses. Currently it works (Protocol shows up in search) on wireshark downloaded from https://github.com/wireshark/wireshar... but not in the application downloaded via the website when they're getting the plugin from the .local/lib/... directory.

I followed the README.plugins but I may have missed something.
