This sounds nice, but carefully read the terms and conditions for access to the WHOIS database and you'll see in general these do not reflect kindly to such use.
Is there anything specifically in the WHOIS TOU that would prevent a freely-available, open-source tool like Wireshark from using the service? I attempted to e-mail ARIN directly for an answer to this question, but unfortunately their reply was, how shall I say, less than helpful:
