I'm having an issue where the Wireshark portable installer does not automatically install WinPCAP - resulting in having no actual network interfaces available for capture (using the stable 2.6.6 portable version from the downloads section of wireshark.org).

The WinPCAP installer doesn't appear to be distributed with the portable installer. If I add it to the App/Wireshark directory and create a WiresharkPortable.ini file in the top level directory (alongside wiresharkportable.exe) with the following contents it also does not install prior to running Wireshark:

[WiresharkPortable]

WiresharkDirectory=App/Wireshark

WiresharkExecutable=wireshark.exe

AdditionalParameters=

DisableWinPcapInstall=false

WinPcapInstaller=WinPcap_4_1_3.exe

Earlier versions (0.99) handled this differently and would auto-install WinPCAP. I've followed the instructions at https://wiki.wireshark.org/WiresharkP... but am unable to get this to function correctly. Any thoughts?

"Earlier versions" of what? Wireshark? Wireshark 0.99.7 and 0.99.8 were released over 10 years ago.

I am seeing the same thing. Just downloaded Wireshark portable installed it on a shared folder, then started it from a remote machine. WinPCAP does not seem to have been installed/started. Is that supposed to happen? WinPCAP would get installed and removed, each time one starts the portable app?
