Drop plugin DLL from older version to new version of Wireshark?

I have a plugin DLL to show a certain message in a Wireshark 3.4.5 display panel. Given that the plugin DLL is dynamically accessed, will the plugin work if I simply drop it into the plugins...\epan folder of a newer version of Wireshark ?
