How do I find the location from which a packet is being sent?

I'm trying to trace a packet back to the source and get the location so I can verify the authenticity for my company.

I have noticed a packet is coming in once every hour at the 30min mark and it has been asked of me to proved where its coming from, the exact location. How do I do this? is it legal?
