How to use Wireshark to measure K-12 classroom signal strength

asked 2024-06-05 19:18:34 +0000

Can Wireshark be used by a K-12 school wishing to check the signal strength of wireless access points? Is it a WIFI analyzer that can enable schools and school districts who want to check access point coverage in all their buildings, classrooms and in their buses - to expand their access point coverage and/or upgrade to WiFi 6? Is there a demo video or PowerPoint of how this application can be used for these purposes? Thank you.

Nope, Wireshark is not a WiFi Analyzer. Some information can be gleaned from captures, if made at the right point in the network, but it's best to use a more appropriate tool.
