Hello guys, I was looking for a way to capture UDP packets via Wireshark app from simulated industrial network in Factory I/O. The scenario is - On the real PC is operating Wireshark app. With the Factory I/O a PLC S7-1500 microcontroller based industrial network are simulated. So, the question is this - Is it possible to capture UDP packets from that industrial S7-1500 based network via Wireshark for the virtual network traffic analyze?

Thanks in advance! Valo

WIreshark captures and records the traffic that is being routed through the network device that it is monitoring. In other words, if it is installed on the PC, it can monitor the traffic that flows through the network card on the PC. For you to see the traffic of the S7-1500 that traffic would have to be sent to the PC. If that is not the way the traffic flows you will have to setup port/traffic mirroring on the switch where you can send the mirror data to the PC or if you're lucky the switch may have a packet monitor application that you can capture all the traffic going to that device (because it flows through the switch).and review it with Wireshark.
