Monitor NordVPN connection and droppage

Help please : I need a tailored capture / monitor script that will constantly monitor that all outgoing traffic is via a NordVPN server (with the option to define the IP address of the NordVPN server I am using). I would like the 'script' to raise an alarm if the connection drops for any reason. Reason: I have been using Kill Switch on NordVPN and I believe it doesnt work in all cases.
