LAPD dissector not allowed by K12xx table

asked 2023-03-29 07:51:07 +0000

Dear All,

Recently I realized that lapd protocol/dissector is no more allowed to be added in K12xx table preferences. Therefore, I'm forced to continue use Wireshark v1.12.7 but want to know if there are workarounds to have LAPD protocol available also in the latest released versions. I've tried to use LAPDm protocol instead, but decoding is wrong. Thank you.

Best Regards, Florian

A workaround I can think of would be to create a (LUA) dissector 'lapd-shim' and have that call the lapd dissector. Then register lapd-shim in the K12xx UAT.

But in fact it feels like a bug to me, so should be looked into. You could raise an issue here.

Or wait until Wireshark release 4.0.5 comes out (in about two weeks) which has the fix build in.

Hi Jaap,

Thank you for reply and good news. I will wait then for new release to be released, being not familiar with dissector 'lapd-shim'.

Best Regards, Florian
