How to directly start capture from extcap dialog?

I've developed an company-internal extcap program in the past, around the days of Wireshark 3.0.2 and later. In this past, extcap dialogs had a "Start" button. Unfortunately, I don't have "enough points" to upload a screenshot as proof, so you have to trust me.

Now with Wireshark 4.0.2 (Win 64bit) installed, the dialog rendered by Wireshark based on the information returned by extcap only shows a "save" button instead.

I googled in order to find some update information on the extcap-Wireshark API but was unsuccessful.

How can my users get back the previous "Start" button functionality? Is there some user setting in Wireshark? Can the extcap request the Start button? ...?

Open issue:
18487: extcap with config never starts; "Configure all extcaps before start of capture." is shown instead
5554: Extcap: Extcaps must be fully configured before start of capture
