When I install the wireshark sotfware through installer or portable, the message is shown " window cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item ". I want to solve this error through Chrome and YouTube videos, but it cannot solved. Please help me to solve it.
Are you the administrator? If not, I would consult the administrator first. As it seems someone gave you limited access and whatever you try to do may fall outside your priviliges.
Also a good question assumes the reader knows nothing of your setup so explain in sufficient detail what you are doing.
I presume from the "portable" in "When I install the wireshark sotfware through installer or portable" that this is Windows - that's one part of your setup you need to explain.
Do you have WinPcap or Npcap installed? (See Help > About, in the "Running on" section.) If so, is it WinPcap or Npcap, and what version of WinPcap or Npcap is it?
Does this happen when you start up Wireshark, even before you try to capture, or does it happen when you try to capture?
Does Wireshark pop up any "Do you want to allow this app to make changes on your device?" mentioning "The helper program for "Admin-Only Mode"" when you start up? If so, did you click "Yes" for all of them, or did you click "No" for any of them?
What version of Wireshark is this?
I believe I hit "no" by accedent. hindsight thinking back about it... how can I fix this error.
