Forcing Mac OS X to reconnect in monitor mode

Hello, I was reading the decrypting 802.11 article and according to the article in order to decrypt 802.11 packets on a secured network, I need to capture all 4 EAPOL packets by forcing my laptop to reconnect to the WiFi whose packets I am trying to decrypt. However, on my laptop (running OS X 10.13.4) it refuses to disconnect/connect while in monitor mode. I was, however, able to capture all 4 EAPOL packets in promiscuous mode. Is there a way to force my laptop to reconnect while in monitor mode, or would I be able to use the packets I captured in promiscuous mode for decryption?

Thanks

Try closing the laptop (while Wireshark is running in monitor mode) and then re-opening it.
