DB Description Packet -- OSPF
Can anyone tell why we wireshark captures DB Description packets in one OSPF Area but doesnt capture DB Description or Link State Request packet in other area of ospf?
So i have two areas -- Area 0 and Area 1. Area 0 has one router whose one interface is connected to Internet while Area 1 routers are configured in a subnet. And they use Area 0 router as default gateway for internet.
When i run wireshark on Area 0 router, it doesnt capture DB Description or Link State request packets. But Area 1 routers capture these two packets (along with other LSAs, Hello packets)
Can anyone explain pl?

Exactly _how_ do you capture on Area 0 router and Area 1 router? Because I think the issue might be there.
If the packet doesn't have any checksum errors then it is what was captured on the wire. If the packet has checksum errors, then the data may not be valid. I would try in a maintenance window: start a new Wireshark capture, and then reset OSPF area 0. DBD, LSA, etc. packets will need to be exchanged to get OSPF to the full state.
