Hello everybody!

My aim was to sniff USB Traffic on a Dell Latitude 3580 Windows 10 64bit Laptop. I did that before with several PCs and another older Laptop.

Just at the moment of the first run of Wireshark with USB PCAB the Display went black and I could hear a cracking noise from inside the laptop. Laptop stays dead. Does not work with power adaptor or / and battery. No charging control light. No reaction on any button or power configuration. The soldered fuse F1 in the battery is dead. I did replace it with a very thin wire. No reaction. Is that a dumb coincidence? Or is it possible that a bad driver kills hardware? Is that a known problem?

While it can't be 100% ruled out that your hardware failure was caused by software installs, it would seem very implausible. There are over half a million + downloads a month of the Windows version of Wireshark and if there was a issue, folks would be letting us know.
