[Linux] Packet bytes window doesn't show all ASCII-characters

I am using Wireshark for Windows and Linux (Kali). In my Linux-Version, the right side of the Packet Bytes Tab is cut off or something like that. The hex-values are shown correctly, but the 'translation' into ASCII, right to the hexdump, misses some characters. It makes no difference, whether I'm inspecting a pcap-file or when Wireshark performs a live packet capture. When I move the mouse over these unvisible ASCII-characters, the corresponding hex-values are highlighted, but the characters are not visible. Even the light grey dots (this is used, when the conversion from hex to ASCII isn't possible) do not show up. But the place of the character is outlined with a rectangle.
When I use Wireshark for Windows, this problem doesn't occur...

Not sure how you found that image, but I suspect it's linked to an issue in GitLab where someone has reported the same problem. The problem appears to be related to the Qt UI toolkit used by Wireshark and can occur when multiple monitors are being used.
Hi, thanks for your answer. I am using just one monitor. Linux runs as a virtual machine (Virtual Box). Version is 3.4.4. Tried the deletion of personal settings too, but it didn't work
I think it might also have been reported when using RDP which may also apply to however you're remoting into your Kali VM.
I don't think there's a solution to this issue at the moment.
Any way. Bugs are better reported at the gitlab place with all the other bugs. This is not the place to report bugs.
It's OK to ask here first for a workaround, someone will point folks to GitLab if need be. Think of Ask as a triage station.
