Is this public network safe for me? - Showing Passwords
Hi,
i want to check, if i can use this free hotspot safe so i started wireshark to see, if it can sniff passwords.
but where could i see the passwords in the list after recording traffic?
It all depends on the protocols involved. If you are using secure protocols, such as https or ssh, and using them correctly, then these should be robust to credential compromise via capture.
If you are using telnet, http with basic authentication, or SNMPv1/2, then that might not be so good in the presence of someone who has access to the network.
These are just example protocols; there are many more examples of each.
