when i first downloaded wireshark and got into the app it said this

Unable to load Npcap or WinPcap (wpcap.dll); you will not be able to capture packets. In order to capture packets Npcap or WinPcap must be installed. See https://nmap.org/npcap/ for a downloadable version of Npcap and for instructions on how to install it.

but when i go on the link and try and download it it looks realllyyyyyyyyyyyy sketchy i dont know what to do if there is a youtube vid to help can you please link it and thanks .

npcap is the library used by Wireshark on Windows to capture packets.

The link you provide is the correct one for npcap. The Wireshark installer includes a copy of the npcap install (which you seem to have decided to not install), but due to logistics and other reasons might be a slightly older version than offered from the npcap website.

I have no idea why you think the npcap\nmap site is sketchy, but that should be taken up with the nmap project.

Download and install npcap, restart Wireshark (if it was running) and you should be good to go. The recommended options for npcap when using it with Wireshark are to only enable "Support raw 802.11 traffic ...", which is needed if you want to try to capture raw wireless traffic (the success of which depends a lot on the actual wireless hardware and its drivers on Windows).

Insecure LLC is the company Fyodor (nmap creator) has established to pay for nmap and npcap development and their code signing certificate reflects that.

Insecure.org was the long established site name for nmap.
