On my Mac Wireshark is not displaying all the captured packets. It is showing the details the packets in the bottom panes, but nothing in the top.

Do you mean to say that the "Packet List" pane is not displayed at all or that the "Packet List" pane is displayed but the area is blank? In case it's the former, you can try to drag the horizontal separator down to expose the "Packet List" pane. If you're having trouble finding it, you could go to "Edit -> Preferences -> Layout" and then choose a different layout, which should make all panes appear again. You can then go back and choose the layout you originally had.

If the "Packet List" pane is displayed but no packets are shown, then this seems very strange and could possibly be a bug. As a start, you might want to provide your Wireshark's "Help -> About Wireshark" information in this case.

Yes the packet details are showing, the pane is there but blank. I have a screenshot showing it. Version 2.4.5 (v2.4.5-0-g153e867)

Then please file a bug on the Wireshark Bugzilla, and attach the screenshot to it.

For reference, @nshoe18 filed Bug 14535. The problem turned out to be that no columns were selected to be displayed.
