Wireshark For External URL?

Hi, As far as I'm aware it's possible to use Wireshark to get an idea of the traffic on a local network.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to use it to get an idea of the traffic to an external URL, such as an Amazon page. Secondly, is it legal?

Thanks in advance, B

If you mean "can I get an idea of the traffic on my local network that goes on the Internet to some external site", yes, you can, and, if capturing your local traffic is legal, capturing that traffic is legal, too.

If you mean "can I get an idea of all the traffic, from everywhere on the Internet, that goes to some external site", no, you can't, unless you're running Wireshark on that site's networks.

Thanks, that answered my question. Do you know of any way to legally get an idea of all the traffic (from everywhere on the Internet) that goes to some external site without running Wireshark on that sites network or using a tool like semrush.
