How to change default capture directory?

Wireshark 1.10.14, centos 7. How do I configure the default capture directory for wireshark-gui? I have several users who keep blowing out /tmp when they don't check their input.

There should be a way to specify an alternative directory for temporary capture files
You can try setting TMPDIR per the man page or set an output file in the Capture Options
