How to make wireshark work with VPN on?

When i have no VPN on i can scan normally and see any IPs connected to me. But once i turn on my VPN it wont scan properly and wont let me scan all IPS connected to the same game for example.

  1. What VPN software are you using?
  2. What interface are you capturing on when the VPN is off?
  3. What interface are you capturing on when the VPN is on?
  4. What traffic do you see when capturing with the VPN on?

Actually isn't that what your VPN is supposed to do? Depending on your VPN solution you may tap on the traffic on pseudo interface before it goes into the VPN tunnel. But the VPN tunnel is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Namely: encrypting you traffic and keeping it away from peeping tom's.
