monitor mode at home not working on OS X Catalina
MacBook Pro Wireshark monitor mode at home through my router does not work, not capturing packets from other devices. However I was able to capture all packets from and to other devices at public wifi like Starbucks. given that monitor mode works well at public wifi, the cause of the problem may come from my home router. I've been struggling to see the problem for a week, but still remains unsolved. Does anyone have the idea to solve the issue or have the same issue?
OS: Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.7 Wireshark version: 3.2.7 Home router: Buffalo WZR-1750DHP2 (802.11ac)
What happens if you try capturing at home with the Wireless Diagnostics sniffer? Hold down Option, click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, click "Open Wireless Diagnostics", and, when the menu bar shows "Wireless Diagnostics" at the left (meaning Wireless Diagnostics has the menu), select "Sniffer" from its "Windows" menu and, when the Sniffer dialog pops up, choose the appropriate channel and channel width, and click "Start". As the dialog says, "Click 'Stop' when you are finished and a wireless capture file will be created in /var/tmp"; that capture file will be a pcap file (as Sniffer appears to just disconnect the Wi-Fi and run tcpdump), so you can open it in Wireshark.
