A while back I remember seeing a post online about a new wireshark beta that showed the packet visually and highlighted which portional of the packet you were inspecting. I have searched various online resources and can not find where this was posted. Where can I find this beta? I would like to try this functionality out.

This is in the current development release (3.3.1) soon to be released as 3.4 stable and is listed in the Wireshark news under 3.3.1 Development Release notes. This version adds an option to display a Packet Diagram in one of the three display panes which can be configured in the Preferences -> Appearance -> Layout option.

The development release can be downloaded from the usual download page. For binaries on platforms not listed you'll have to build from source.

Thank you. I had that version installed, but I needed to enable it with the layout option.

Packet Diagram with pictures
Wireshark 3.3.1 is now available
• The main window now supports a packet diagram view, which shows each packet as a textbook-style diagram.
