Wireshark Conflict with VirtualBox USB Port

When downloading Wireshark onto my host machine it results in my VirtualBox Virtual Machine to no longer be able to gain access to external USB-C connections. The VirtualBox application can see that there are USB-C devices connected to the host machine but it can't pass the port connection to the VM. I've tried just downloading the barebones Wireshark without the additional extensions but found no success in fixing the apparent conflict between the two applications. Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

Presumably meaning "after downloading and installing Wireshark onto my host machine".

Is your host machine running Windows? If so, did you install USBPcap as part of the Wireshark installation?
