hello ,

I am installing wirehsark from ubuntu repository , and i observe a configuring-wireshark-common prompt , i wanted to know is it advisable to suppress it at the time of installation and if so how can it be done ?

the users can reconfigure it at a later point of time using sudo dpkg-reconfigure wireshark-common .

Note that this isn't a Wireshark project issue as such, it's an issue for those creating the packages, in this case the Ubuntu MOTU Developers as seen on the package page for wireshark-common.

Whether it's advised is up to your unique situation. Since there is no universal 'right answer' this prompt is made.

It is suggested it can be done, see this Server Fault question.

You probably can find more information in Debian packaging related fora.
